The winning book trailer of 2016 is...

The Maze Runner - by Phoenix, Kalo, Henry L, Henry G and Riley

Congratulations! This trailer was a unanimous winner, winning both the online votes and the school votes. What I like about this trailer is the action scenes, the editing of pictures to create maze effects, the thoughtful captions which lead one through the story and lend it a sense of coherence and flow, and the careful choice of theme music which adds to the mood. The boys worked well as a team, using their energy to film some exciting action clips on the field, and Phoenix used his video editing prowess to enhance some of the pictures.

It was encouraging to see that all of the book trailers received a number of votes. Thank-you to the children who visited at lunch times and placed your votes, and the parents, friends and whanau who supported their children by voting online.

Some feedback for the other wonderful book trailers: I was impressed with the creative use of props (like the wooden train representing the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter trailer) and the small toy car photographed to appear as if there was a full sized car on the field in Cat and Mouse in a Haunted House. That tricked a few children who wanted to know how we got a car onto the field. The Gangsta Granny girls carried bags of recycling pretending it was loot, and the 100 Ride Bus Ticket team used Pic-collage to edit trolleys, tickets, buses and eggs into their pictures. The Little Shop of Hamsters girls edited in a picture of a hamster biting a child in a pet shop. Eek! In Diary of a Wimpy Kid I enjoy the before and after pics of how our family should be, and "what we got", as well as the hilarious wig dress up scenes.

I hope that you all had fun, book club.

Next term we will finish our boards and hold a Reading Fair to display them (like a Science Fair but all about books) and then hopefully we will have a few weeks where we can just meet and chat about books.
