The Book Trailer of 2016 competition is now open

Every year the book club creates book trailers and then we all vote for our book trailer of the year. The book trailers are visible on the new school library website, which parents and children can now access via the school website. They can also be looked at by clicking on May on the right-hand side of this blog, which is when the trailers were posted on this blog. After viewing the trailers, if you would like to vote, please select one trailer and post your vote on the poll on the top right-hand corner of this blog.

Children will be able to view the trailers and vote at lunchtimes in the library. I will restrict viewing to the middle and senior school, as a couple of the children have made horror genre trailers which may be a little spooky for younger viewers.

Voting closes on Tues 20th September so that I can announce the winner before the end of the term. Good luck everyone, you've worked hard and you're all very creative.

Making the most of the lovely weather

We had a happy, busy book club session at morning tea, painting the base colours on our Reading Fair boards. Next week we are going to start adding detail and 3D elements out of recycling. I'm thankful for sunshine and can you see the lovely, pink spring blossoms in the background of the first picture? I bet our local Tui will be seen there soon.

Book club fun in the sun

It was too nice a day to do our painting indoors. Book club painted some colour on their reading fair boards today. I'm looking forward to seeing how these boards are going to turn out.

Scholastic Country Kiwi Book Fair

Our inquiry this term is all about bees, which I imagine would be buzzing around at a Kiwi Country Book Fair

Thank-you so much to the parents and children who supported the book fair. It is a wonderful chance to encourage excitement about reading while supporting an important annual book fundraiser at the same time. We get to keep a percentage of books, depending on how many we sell. This year we chose three boxes of books to the value of over $2000 for the library. There are picture books, graphic novels, chapter books and non-fiction and I will catalogue and cover them in due course.

Thank-you to Jenny and Raewyn and to the following parents and children for your help: Marlei, Julie, Sarah, Emily, Olivia, Alex, Megan and Dylan. I couldn't have run such a busy fair without your help - it is so very much appreciated!

Geronimo Stilton visited, and enjoyed posing for pictures with some of our lovely children.

We are awaiting a few boxes of books to arrive, but if you haven't received a book by the end of this week, please do come and speak to me, or drop me an email.
